Theatre Dreams of a Beautiful Afternoon (2010-2014)
2 channel HD video installation

I asked an actor to cry on the train in the heart of Tokyo.
When he was just sobbing, people didn't respond to him at all. They are so used with ignoring such behavior. So I asked him to perform again and again.
Every time, I asked him to cry louder and louder. At the 8th take, when I asked him to just scream at top of his voice, we finally managed to shatter people' s mask.
From this beautiful image, I constructed a 2 screen video installation.

During the production, the earthquake struck, and nuclear plants exploded. We all wished it were all dream.
The first version of this work is commissioned by Aichi Triennale 2010.
